Dancing Landscapes

5 Rhythms Improvisation Morning Dance Practice with Virginia Farman.

Dancing Landscapes offers a two hour-long dance improvisational sessions that explore the 5 Rhythms maps to navigate relationship to ourselves, each other and the natural and built environment.

In these morning movement classes, we will explore the 5 rhythms map alongside a wealth of dance improvisational processes. The 5 Rhythms is a dynamic movement practice that anyone can do. The rhythms are flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness and when they are danced as a cycle they have the potential to generate a body-mind alignment that is similar to meditation and that can connects us to our fullest selves; on another level the classes are nurturing, funky, sociable and fun.

About Virginia

Virginia Farman is a choreographer, artist-researcher and 5 Rhythms teacher. She trained in choreography and visual arts and initially danced professionally before becoming a freelance choreographer of site-situated choreographies created in everyday places and spaces with trained and untrained participants. She works at the University of Chichester as a senior lecturer in dance and has a strong nature-based practice. A central concern of her work is with how choreographic processes can be applied to cultivate connections between individuals, communities and environments.
