Dancing The Land

27 July 2025 10am - 3pm

Dancing the land, offers a day of movement and dancing in the woodlands, meadows and the Children’s Forest at Hackhurst Farm, Sussex. 

This workshop will explore ways that moving in and with the natural environment can develop sensitivity and cultivate an embodied connection.  The teachings incorporate principles of both 8 Shields and 5 Rhythms.

The workshop is led by Anna Richardson and Virginia Farman and is open to anyone over 16 years; no experience necessary.

Your investment

£40 – £60 (sliding scale)

Please pay at the level comfortable to you. We support paying it forward – when you pay more as a supporter, it will directly facilitate someone else to attend via the supported (concessionary) rate. And all additional income will not only pay the facilitators, but will directly help with the planting of Children’s Forests, contributing towards a bright future for all.

About Virginia (Ginny) and Anna

Ginny Farman: Ginny is a site-dance choreographer, senior lecturer in dance at the University of Chichester and certified 5 Rhythms teacher with a long-term association with the Children’s Forest. She has recently completed a practice-led PhD investigating Interior/ exterior landscape dialogues that explored potential ways that dance and movement can support an increased connection to human and more-than-human relations. 

Anna Richardson: Anna has been a nature mentor and trained forest school leader for over 20 years, working with children of all ages and mentoring adults in plant lore, foraging, nature connection and bushcraft. The 8 Shields deeply informs Anna’s work and approach.  She is passionate about connecting to nature through creativity and reverence for life and is also a forest school trainer through Circle of Life Rediscovery and has co-authored two books : Learning with Nature and The Children’s Forest and is the founder of the Children’s Forest.
